Zebra Finch Genome Assembly Release!

August 6, 2008

The 6x coverage zebra finch assembly from a single male is now available for download and BLAST queries at the following web site: http://www.genome.wustl.edu/.

Select the following links in succession: genomes, other vertebrates, Taeniopygia guttata and sequences & maps.  In addition to the assembly a BAC based physical map is available that contains 108,725 clones organized into 2,724 contigs, for a ~10X depth of coverage.

The major genome browsers are now working on posting this assembly. A full gene annotation build by Ensembi is expected by November, 2008.
